Zariah believes care and trust as key foundations for every space, strategy, design, and community she creates, with whimsy and joy as the special ingredient at the center of it all, including this site. She holds herself to the standard of prioritzing mental health first and extends that gift to anyone she works with and is in community with, understanding that one cannot pour from an empty cup.
This ideology is embedded in the roles she’s operated in over the last 5-6 years:
- Founder & Creative Director of AEI Design Program: An organization that provided resources and events to Black design college students to prepare and excel in the industry. Led a team and learned what it meant to build & sustain a community (100+) from the ground up.
- Equity UX Strategist at Ally Financial: First role of its kind. Led strategy as it pertains to research, design, and content for the entire design department (100+ designers) on how to build an equitable banking experience for all customers.
- Inclusive Research Fellow at Renaissance: Created a sustainable Inclusive UX Research strategy and protocol for the Research team and Content Design team who were also conducting research with limited research knowledge. This, in turn, had an impact on various K-12 children globally.
- Social Media Strategist & Researcher at Aroko Cooperative: A design studio and publishing house centered on building culture. Leading the overall marketing strategy and research behind our social and brand presence, creating communal relationships and connections through each post.
